Congregational Chapel, Halesworth Road, Walpole - East Suffolk
Congregational chapel, the core built originally as a dwelling mid C16. First used as a chapel in 1647 and extended to the rear c1700. Timber framed and plastered, some red brick casing to the left hand gable end; double-span roof, mainly plaintiled. Tiered gallery on three sides supported on square columns and iron posts. Brick floor. Eleven box pews on the ground floor, the remaining simple benches. Historic England awarded a Repair Grants for Heritage at Risk grant in 2022 towards project development specialist investigations and reports to inform urgent repair work; completed April 2023.
