TF 9743 (north side) 14/120 Old Rectory 30.11.51 II* Former Rectory of c1730, enlarged and re-faced C184O. Flint, gault brick dressed
walls. Roof C20 smut pantiles. Double pile house, service wing. Five bays,
2 storeys. N front 2-1-2 bay facade, central 2 1/2 storey pedimented entrance bay.
Sash window, glazing bars, under flat rubbed brick arches, brick quoins. Porch
wood crudely rusticated square piers and pilasters. Entablature, pediment,
leaded. Glazed door. End bays and central bay, brick quoins rusticated, moulded
brick modillions to eaves cornice. Two brick stacks, moulded, to ridge. This
pile refronts an earlier house of c1730. Flint, brick service range to left.
N pediment altered. S front almost exactly similar to N, but 2 left bays have
longer windows to ground floor, also doorcase not porch, pediment intact. Two stacks
on ridge. Hipped roof to house, shallow pitch. N pile 2 rooms of 2 bays each in William Kent style C1730. Right, 2 bays, moulded
panelled dado, window embrasures. Framed door, broken pediment; 6 raised fielded
panels, marble fireplace, compartment plaster ceiling, modillion cornice. White
veined morble fireplace. Hall and staircase C1840, cast iron balusters, mahogany
rail. S pile: Left 2 bay room C1840 Greek cornice and palm leaf central rosette.
