Heath Farmhouse
II
Farmhouse. Circa early C19. Sandstone rubble with brick
dressings. Plain tile twin-span roof with gabled ends and with
dentil eaves. Gable end stacks with short brick shafts.
PLAN: Double-depth plan. 2 principal front rooms. Hall-kitchen
on right and parlour on left, with entrance lobby and straight
staircase between. At rear back kitchen on left and back
stairs and dairy on right.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys. Symmetrical 3-window SE front. Large C19
3-light casements on ground floor and smaller 2-light
1st-floor casements, all with glazing bars and cambered brick
arches. Central doorway with C19 6-panel door (with applied
board over) and rectangular fanlight with glazing bars. At
rear 2-light casements with glazing bars and central doorway
with C20 door and large C20 open-sided lean-to shelter.
INTERIOR: simple but fairly complete interior. Panelled doors
on ground floor and plank doors on 1st floor. Hall-kitchen has
large fireplace with simple chimneypiece and flanking panelled
cupboard doors. Simple moulded chamber chimneypieces. C20
range in back kitchen and brick arcaded shelves in dairy.
