ROUSHAM ROUSHAM PARK GARDENS SP4724 14/232 Temple of Echo 27/08/57 (Formerly listed under The Pyramid and Townsend's Building) GV II* Garden temple. c.1738-40 by William Kent and William Townesend. Limestone ashlar; hipped Welsh slate roof. Octagonal plan. Classical style. Pedimented portico has two Tuscan columns in antis. Moulded cornices and vermiculated frieze. 6-pane sash with heavy glazing bars to left. Interior: Roman tomb. Architectural frames to niches and Hellenistic-style relief carving. Part of the landscape gardens laid out by William Kent between 1733 and 1740. Probably designed by Kent and built by Townesend. (Rousham Park is included in the H.B.M.C.
