121/0/10044 TYNTESFIELD PARK 29-APR-02 Large Gothic Seat about 180 metres west northwest of Tyntesfield House

GV II Garden seat. Circa 1865; possibly by John Norton. Stone. Semi-circular on plan with four tall piers with cusped pointed arch panels and surmounted by vases; between the piers the back of the seat comprises a frieze of pierced quatrefoils with moulded coping. The raised base is paved. A good example of a Victorian garden ornament in a grade II* garden and the largest of a set of Gothic seats in the garden at Tyntesfield.
