Terraced town houses. c.1790-1800, Portland Estate development continuing Upper Wimpole Street. Stock brick with rusticated or channelled stucco ground floors, slate roofs. Four storeys and dormered mansards (Nos. 37 and 41) or five storeys on basements. Three-window wide fronts, No. 41 with five-window return with entrance to Devonshire Street. Wide semicircular arched doorways to right: panelled double doors, side lights in panelled jambs or pilaster jambs, moulded doorheads, fanlights some retaining patterned glazing. Recessed sashes, No. 41 with ground floor windows in blind arcade, in stucco reveals under flat gauged arches (some red brick) to upper floors. Plat band finishing off stuccowork at first floor level. Parapets with coping or bracketed stucco crowning cornices, No. 38 with guilloche string course over third floor. Cast iron early to mid C19 scroll or geometrical patterned balconies to first floor. Cast iron area railings with urn finials intact to Nos.38 and 39, tasselled spike finialed and twisted standard railings to rest. No. 41 has five window return (two blind) to Devonshire Street with stucco Ionic columned porch.
