Country house, now a school. 1864 and 1895. Coursed and squared ironstone with limestone ashlar dressings and slate roofs. Chamfered plinth, string course, coved eaves cornice, rusticated quoins, shouldered coped gables. 3 lateral, 4 gable and 5 ridge stone stacks, with grouped corniced stalks and Tudor style patterned pots. 2 storey plus attics, 9 bays. South side has to right, principal south west garden front with recessed centre with crenellated parapet, flanked by single gabled slightly projecting wings. Centre has, to left, a 2 light cross mullioned casement and to its right, a similar casement altered to form a French window. Beyond, to left, a square bay window with a crenellated parapet and a 4 light cross mullioned casement plus a single transomed light in each side. Beyond, to right, a 2 storey canted bay window with crenellated parapet and a 3 light mullioned and transomed casement flanked by single mullioned casements. Above, the centre has 2 plain sashes with deep chamfered surrounds. Beyond, to left, a 3 light cross mullioned casement, and beyond to right, bay window with a 3 light mullioned opening flanked by single lights, all with plain sashes. Above again, to left, a mullioned opening with 2 sashes, and to right, a plain sash in a chamfered opening. Beyond, to left, a recess containing a moulded doorway with segmental head and overlight, and above it a square blank panel. Beyond again, a gabled wing with a 2 storey canted bay window with a crenellated parapet and a 6 light cross mullioned casement. North east entrance front has to left a roofless square porte- cochere with on each side a 4 centred arched opening with hood mould. Behind this, a 3 storey square crenellated tower porch with a moulded 4 centred arched doorway with a 2 leaf part glazed door with wrought iron grilles. Above the door, a canted crenellated oriel window with a 2 light cross casement. Above again, a mullioned opening with a double plain sash and hood mould. Beyond, to right, an irregular gabled facade in a similar style. Interior has a cantilevered stone dogleg staircase with landing and scrolled cast iron balustrade. Principal rooms have moulded cornices and classical wooden and marble fireplaces.
