(formerly listed as Lea House and
2.10.54 Rosslea) GV II Two attached houses: possibly C17, late C18. Painted, Flemish bond
brickwork, tiled roof. Two 2-window wide houses, each 2 rooms
deep, 2½ storey. Roof and eaves continuous. Street front: No 39,
tripartite sash window below flat, rubbed-brick arch either side of
6-panel door, slightly left of centre, up 1 stone step, top 2
panels glazed, remainder fielded, framed Roman Doric pilasters,
with moulded frieze, setting forward over pilasters, flat top.
Below on right cambered head to cellar opening, iron plates in
pavement. Above 2 similar windows; 3-light casement, iron opening
light, to hipped dormer in centre over. Gable chimney in front of
ridge on right. No 41 to left: boarded door on right, moulded
surround, similar on left up 1 stone step, 2-pane rectangular
fanlight. Sash window under long timber lintel on left. Above
two 20-pane sash windows, apparently with stone lintels. Two-
light casement window in hipped dormer, set centrally: gable
chimney behind ridge on left. Timber-framed rear wing to No 39,
with timber-framed wall between Nos 39 and 41.
