CROSTHWAITE AND LYTH CHURCH TOWN SD 49 SW 9/14 Spout House 21.11.52 II
House. Early C18 with later alterations. Roughcast stone rubble with slate roofs. South-east elevation of 2 storeys and 6 bays, the 5th and 6th bays break forward under gable with attic. 2 dripcourses to end 2 bays. Ground floor has casement windows under drips; end 2 bays have sashed windows with glazing bars and horns, 1st floor has 2 horizontally sliding sashes flanking blocked window and casement window, end 2 bays as ground floor. Attic to end 2 bays has small-paned fixed glazing with opening light. Entrance to 4th bay has lean-to porch. Cross-axial stack. Right return has lateral stack, dripcourse and small-paned casements, one sashed window with single glazing barns and horns. Rear has gabled wing with gable-end stack with rounded shaft, and outshut under catslide roof; casement windows. Interior has chamfered beams. Spice cupboard door reads: "TAM/17U9"; 2-panel doors, one with wood handle. Beef loft above fireplace. Round-headed recess with shaped shelves. Stair has slender turned balusters, square newels and moulded handrail; ramped dog gates with splats.
