SU 88 SW HURLEY HATCHGATE LANE (north side, off) 5/17 Boiler house and storage building at Juddmonte South, about 25 metres east of the stable block

Laundry and boiler house, now boiler house and domestic storage. Late C19. Brick with tile, coped gable roof. Rectangular plan. One storey. Large square chimney on east roof slope, near ridge. Ventilation turret in front of chimney with moulded eaves to pyramidal roof, and 2 arched and louvred openings on each face. Leaded case- ment windows. Entrance (south) front: 2-leaf plank entrance door in centre of a large- semicircular-arched 8-light glazed opening. Lower bay on right, 2-light windows to left return. Juddmonte South was formerly known as Cayton Park. Used as a mortuary during World War I when Cayton Park functioned as a military hospital.
