Milestone, probably C18. Cut sandstone, painted black on white. Pillar with roughly-domed top. Legend 'Bowes 2 MILES' on east and 'Durham 27 MILES' on west, painted except for incised figure '2' on east. Height 0.55 metre. Not shown on O.S. map.
