Farmhouse, now house. Early C17, with later C17 kitchen/cider room wing, later
alterations. Random limestone rubble, pantiled roof with large stone gable
stacks. Former through passage 2-room plan. 2 storeys and 3 windows, irregular
front elevation, first floor has 3-light casement to right and left and small
central 2-light casement, all with timber lintel, ovolo mullions and frame to
right, ground floor has 2-light casement to left and 3-light to right, central
gabled porch with 1/2-glazed door, heavy inner door has inset glazed panel and
moulded frame, ground floor windows have remains of drip moulds, 2-light gabled
dormer; single storey wing attached to front left has single light in gable end,
door and 2-light casement at left side, rear of addition has lean-to with door.
Right return has lean-to concealing blocked first floor window, small lean-to to
rear. Rear has ground floor 4-light casement with timber lintel and drip mould,
small 2-light casement partly covered by large weathered buttress, 3 further
similar buttresses along rear, blocked rear passage door, 3-light casement with
ovolo mullions and drip mould, first floor has C20 3-light casement left and
right with timber lintels and small central 2-light casement with ovolo mullion
and frame, all with drip mould,2 C20 raking dormers; attached to rear right a
brick lean-to with door attached to rear of kitchen wing, glazed along rear.
Interior: at left entrance to kitchen, heavy door with raised fillets, moulded
and stopped frame, possibly rear passage door re-set when buttresses added;
deep-chamfered and stopped beams at ground and first floor, site of former stair
to rear right of passage, replaced by straight stair in two flights rising to
attic level; roof of 5 bays in main range, principal rafters and one row of
purlins visible, collars above floor level; front dormer has ovolo-moulded
mullion on inside.
