SE 18 NW MIDDLEHAM SWINE MARKET (south side) 9/66 Milton House and railings 15.2.67 (Formerly listed under Castle Hill) GV II

House and railings. House: early C19. Coursed rubble with ashlar dressings, stone slate roof, cast-iron railings. 2 storeys, 3 bays. plasticated quoins. Central C20 glazed door below overlight with decorative glazing bars within doorcase with plain pilasters, frieze, cornice, and blocking course above. Above door, sash window with glazing bars in plain ashlar surround. Flanking 2-storey segmental bows with tripartite sash windows on ground floor, sashes with glazing bars on first floor, all windows in plain ashlar surrounds. First-floor sill band. Plain ashlar string below cyma recta cornice with plain parapet above. End stacks. To left of house, recessed bay with board doors in narrow carriage opening with segmental arch of rubble voussoirs and ashlar keystone; on first floor sash window with glazing bars. Shaped kneeler and ashlar coping to left. In front of house, low rusticated wall with mid C19 cast-iron railings.
