South End House and attached wall

GV II

House. Early C19. White brick, painted on the rear wall;
hipped slate roof.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys and basement with small lower extensions
in flint, stone and red brick to each side of the front; set
at right angles between the Sicklesmere Road and Nowton Road.
3 window range to the main front, 1 window to each of the side
wings: all 12-pane sashes in plain reveals. A central 6-panel
door has a segmental fanlight with ornamental fan glazing and
recessed columns and is approached by 4 steps with swept
handrails.
The south front has a 3-light canted bay with 12-pane sash
windows and a C20 addition projecting above the central
doorway. Adjoining the south-east corner of the house is a
long stretch of high flint garden wall with a garden door.
INTERIOR: the basement contains the former kitchen and service
rooms of the house with living rooms above.
