Farmhouse, now house. Probably late C17, altered and recently renovated. Timber frame, subsequently cased in stone or brick and now all rendered; composition pantile roof. Two unit plan with continuous outshuts. Two storeys and two bays; former front on south side has a doorway near the left end, the chamfered Tudor-arched lintel with an inscription (partly worn so as to be illegible): "George (?) Oulton / born/ I . -. 17 (?) 9.-.M"; a 1st-floor band stepped over this lintel; to the right at ground floor a 2-light window with a central mullion (probably formerly four lights), a narrow fire window, and another altered mullioned window, probably formerly of three lights but lacking the 2nd mullion; at 1st floor two 2-light horizontal sliding sashes. Ridge chimney, and at right-hand gable a large extruded chimney. Right-hand gable wall stepped, (continuous to the rear of the stack) has at ground floor a large inserted window, a small chamfered window to the right of this, and two similar windows at 1st floor flanking the chimney. Rear (now front) has a doorway and a small window and a modern pentice-roofed porch.

INTERIOR: surviving timber framing in west gable wall (wall posts, cambered tie beam with down brace to post, some studs of light scantling) and in partition to outshut (posts, arcade plate and brace); central chimney stack with wide, depressed-arched brick fireplace to house part in 1st unit; in 2nd unit gable wall of sandstone rubble incorporating Tudor-arched parlour fireplace, to the left of this a square recess (perhaps formerly salt cupboard), and to the right a blocked 3-light window with diamond-section wooden mullions.
