The description shall be amended to read:

Pair of cottages. Mid/late C17 with later additions. Timber framing and rendered brick with slate roof. 2 storeys, 1 bay each with C20 added bay to south gable of Rookery Cottage. Stone plinth, small framing three panels in height with angle braces. Boarded doors under gabled hoods, the door to Swan Cottage being a C20 replacement. Three-light ground floor windows but the two Rookery Cottage windows are C20 bows. First floor windows are 2-light gabled half dormers. The bay added to Rookery Cottage is of rendered brickwork. A stucco rendered brick cottage with slate roof and C20 door and windows has been built against the north gable of Swan Cottage, this is of no special interest.

MARTON C.P. CLAY LANE SJ 66 NW 4/65 Rookery Cottage and Swan Cottage - - II Pair of cottages. Mid/late C17. Timber framed with rendered infill and tile roof. Three storeys. Entrance front: Stone plinth. 11 x 3 cells of small framing with angle braces to left and right and to either side of the seventh post front left. C19 gabled porches to either side of the seventh upright with C20 doors. Three-light ground floor windows to right and left of these, the left hand one being a canted oriel. First floor: Two C19 2-light gabled dormers. To the right are C20 additions.
