Overview

House, probably early-mid C18. Mostly herringbone-tooled coursed sandstone, some with rougher tooling. Pantiled roofs with stone ridge, copings, kneelers and stacks. T-plan. 2 storeys 3 windows and a 1-storey, 2-window left part probably once the downhouse or back kitchen. Traces of blocked passage door in this part. Glazed door to right of centre in added gabled porch. Modern casements with glazing bars, those in main house under extended lintels with projecting keystones; stone cills. Rear elevation shows gabled central wing. Spaces either side filled with lean-tos and a left rear wing added. Modern windows. Off-centre and end chimneys, cornice-banded; big curved kneelers.

Reasons for Designation: Seave Green House, a former farmhouse of C18 date, is designated at Grade II for the following principal reasons: * Date: the building dates to the early-mid C18 * Adaptation: traces of a blocked passage door associated with a former downhouse or back kitchen adds additional historic interest * Architecture: the building retains a number of C18 architectural features, including copings, kneelers, cornice banding and lintels with projecting keystones.
