14/7 The Tarry Stone 11.4.72 G.V. II

A large irregular shaped sarsen stone. Formerly marked the boundary of the grounds of the Abbot of Cirencester, and is said to have been connected with sports events in Cookham before AD 1507. Originally stood 50 yards north-north-east and was placed in its present position by the Parish Council in 1909.
