Chest and pedestal tombs. Late C18, second quarter C19. Stone.
Easternmost, James Barrett, died 1833; rectangular dome, gadrooned
base, swept to moulding, step, flat lid with moulded edges;
slightly indented corners to lid long sides. North side raised
circle, south square with scalloped corners, both with corner
paterae. Ends rectangular pilasters, alternate fluting and paterae
to capitals, raised square panel west end, circle of twigs and
leaves east. Moulded base, on paving at ground level.
Southernmost, pedestal tomb, J. Barrett, died 1841; ball on
square, reeded dome; swept down to step, moulded edge to lid;
raised rim to rectangular panel on sides, plain circular corner
columns without capitals or bases; moulded plinth. Later
inscription. Northernmost, chest tomb; John Smith and wife, died
1797/8. Flat lid with moulded edge, slightly indented corners,
long sides. Raised frame to panel sides, ends pilasters with egg
and dart moulding to capitals, fielded panel stem, and end fielded
panel on returns. Moulded base.
