SJ 31 NE SJ 3809 1966 4/112 GREAT NESS CP Nesscliffe Holyhead Road Milestone approximately 30 metres south east of the junction between Holyhead Road and Well Lane

(Formerly listed as Milestone approximately 30 metres south east of the junction between the A5 and Well Lane, A5 (T) (south-west side))

II Milestone erected 1826-1827. Thomas Telford, engineer. Tooled limestone with shallow-pitched top and chamfered corners. Cast-iron plate with superscribed serif lettering: "HOLY-/HEAD /98-M/ SALOP / 8M - 6F".

This is one of a series of milestones alongside the A5 (Holyhead Road). Telford was engineer for the Holyhead Road improvements which were carried out in the 15 years after 1817.
