Farmhouse and adjacent estate house, now 4 houses. C16 or earlier NE crosswing, C17 W extension to crosswing and N bay of hall range rebuilt to 2 storeys, early C18 heightening of W extension and addition of 3-bays block to W of it and rebuilding of S and middle bays of hall range. Mid C18 estate house on roadside with connecting link block at S, mid C19 hall range cased in red brick, late C19 false half-timbering on S face of N range, later C20 N end of estate house (No. 18) rebuilt. Timber frame roughcast on N and NE, roughcast with false timbering applied on 1st floor on S of N range. Red brick with chequer of black headers to No. 18, sandy red brick to W face of hall range, red brick to N part of No. 18. Steep old red tile roofs, hipped at junctions of wings. A 2-storeys Z-shaped group. Oldest part a 2-bays, 2-storeys crosswing with 3-bays hall range to S rebuilt in 2 stages formerly 16 storeys building extending W from W end of crosswing which was heightened to 2-storeys when a 3-bays, 2-storeys early C18 timber framed range was built to W but facing and projecting on S. Tall 2-storeys, end-chimneys, central entrance estate house facing W has lower 2-storeys 2-windows wide linking block at S. W side of hall range has 3 windows to 1st floor, 4 to ground floor, door to No. 10 at S end, door to No. 12/14 to S of left-hand window. 2-light flush casement windows. N range has 6 3-lights flush casement windows to each floor and 2 lobby-entry doors, one to each part. No. 16 in N range extends into S end bay of brick range fronting road on W. This has a higher N part with 2 windows to each floor, 3-lights flush casements to 1st floor and a blank recess over a blocked doorway in middle part beside half-glazed door to No. 18. Gauged flat arches below dentilled corbelled eaves course. Cambered arches to 2 ground floor sash windows of 8/8 panes, recessed on LH but flush box on RH. Lower 2-storeys S part has corbelled dentilled eaves course, one recessed sash window to each floor on LH with 3/3 panes and flat gauged arches. Wide segmental arched recess on RH with 3-lights flush casement with segmental head above a canted bay window with small-panes casements and moulded cornice. Interior of NE crosswing has heavy scantling of timbers, windows with shutter grooves, curved tension brace in side-wall, heavy jowled posts, cambered tie-beams and collars, clasped-purlin roof of 2 bays with curved wind-braces. E gable never jettied and altered to hip roof. Stepped jowled posts and old wallplates remain in heightened W extension with unjowled posts and side-purlin roof. Chamfered axial beam with hollow stops in N bay of hall range.
