(Formerly listed as Jasmine
House) GV II House, now divided, and cottage, now joined with half house and called
Ferndale House, and front railings. Coursed rubble with ashlar dressings,
stone and Welsh slate roofs, wrought-iron railings. House: dated 'CJ 1772'
on rainwater-head on right return. 3 storeys, 5 bays. Rusticated quoins.
Central 6-panel door in moulded, shouldered and eared surround, with
pulvinated frieze, modillioned cornice and pediment. Plain ashlar surrounds
to windows: on ground and first floors, 4-pane sashes in left 3 bays
(Jasmine House), sashes with glazing bars in right 2 bays (Ferndale House);
smaller, square 4-pane sashes on second floor. Cornice with large
modillions. Ashlar copings, stone slate roof, end stacks. Cottage to
right: C18 gable front: 2 storeys, one bay. Central C20 door in plain stone
surround with simple wrought-iron porch in front. Keystone in relieving
lintel above. Plain board door to right. First floor: sash window with
glazing bars. Coping, Welsh slate roof, ridge stack. Interior: original
doors, door linings, shutters, part stairs, and on top floor Ferndale House,
original fireplace and some Georgian paintwork. Railings and gates in front
with alternate wavy and straight bars, with urn finials to standards, on
ashlar plinth.
