House, now offices. c1600, with reworking in c1800 and C20.
Timber-framed and plastered, brick, with clay tiled roofs.
Plan L shaped. 2 storeys. Front E elevation: long 4 window
range, traces of ashlar lining, cove with lower bead moulding
under eaves, stacks c1800 at ridge at N and S ends. All
windows except one are sashes with moulded architraves,
glazing bars, 3x4 panes. One, on ground floor at N end, C19
triple sash with glazing bars, 1x4, 3x4, 1x4 panes. 2 doorways
with cornice hoods and moulded architraves, larger central one
has 6 recessed moulded panels, other adjacent to triple window
similar, of 5 panes. Rear W elevation: 2 conjoined gabled
wings, central and to S end, some ashlar lining remains, also
fan-combed panel pargetting on N side of central wing. Ridge
piece and side purlins exposed in each gable. Street range,
restored at N end in rendered brickwork and simple doorway.
Wings, ground floor, C20 double casement window with glazing
bars, 4x3 panes, 3 small single-light casements, boarded door
on N elevation. First floor, 2 restored C19 sash windows,
glazing bars, 3x4 panes.
INTERIOR: much refurbished for office use but jowled posts and
wall plates exposed to full house height on first floor. 3
principal bays with additional short central bay on site of
principal front door, further short stack bay at S end
suggesting original form similar to that seen now.
