II Large corner shop, with offices above, and attached warehouses. Designed by Alfred J. Cornelius in 1908. Polychrome brick and terracotta; dry Delabole slate roof with 2 gables at the front; lateral and axial brick stacks; cast-iron ogee gutters. Deep rectangular plan with large shop at the front, storerooms behind. High Victorian style with Baroque influence. 3 storeys, 3 bays. Large corner shop has splayed corner with 2-storey bay window above surmounted by a gable, wide bay on the right surmounted by a gable, and another bay to the left-hand return. The most striking features are the enormous keyed lunette windows with enriched architraves lighting the first floors of these 2 outer bays. Shop front has its original mullions and moulded entablature with sloping fascia and terminal consoles over pilasters. The principal windows over the corner have tall moulded keyblocks and have modillioned cornices; all have moulded architraves; group of 4 windows over right-hand bay have Gibbs surrounds; festooned frieze above. INTERIOR not inspected.
