EBBERSTON A 170 SE 88 SE (north side,off) 10/15 Wall of cascade approximately 50 metres north of Ebberston Hall GV II * Lowest cascade of water garden. c1718. For William Thompson, MP for Scarborough. Dressed limestone. Stepped wall with offsets approximately 1.75 metres high and 10 metres wide forming a dam to the canal behind it. Central part channelled. Attached decorative urns to left and right. C Hussey, English Gardens and Landscapes 1700-1750, 1967; Harris J, Artist and the Country House, 1979. Ebberston Hall gardens are listed grade II* in the Register of Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest in England.
