- II Farmhouse, now house. Originally C15 infirmarium of St. Augustine's Abbey,
Bristol, with subsequent alterations, c.1930 restoration work and addition of
2½ storey cross wing to north. Rubble, stone dressings and quoins, reconstructed
Cotswold stone tiled roof with ridge stacks and weathered external gable stack to
south. T-plan. 2 storeys and 4:1 windows, to left all windows have pointed
arched chamfered surround, at ground floor two 3-light and 2 single light, with
chamfered pointed arched door to right, first floor has two 2-light and 2 single
light windows; 2½ storey wing to right has ground floor 4-light, first floor
3-light and 2nd floor 2-light casement, all with ovolo mullions and hood mould and
leaded lights, with king mullion at ground floor. South elevation of wing has
2 windows as on front, single and 3-light at ground floor, single and 2-light at
first floor; south elevation of main block has ground floor single light as on
front, to left of external stack, and small single light at attic level to each
side of stack. West elevation has varied windows as on front including 3-light
window with pierced spandrels; narrow 3-storey gabled block to left with oval
bull's eye in chamfered surround at ground floor, single light with bolection-
moulded surround at first and 2nd floor; west elevation of wing has windows as on
front, 3 at ground floor and one at first and second floors. Rear has it storey
addition with pitched roof to right, single storey flat-roofed addition attached,
door with depressed 4-centred arched head in heavy frame, 2 small windows in
wooden frames; two 3-light casements at ground floor with chamfered timber
mullions and lintels, first floor has 3 varied casements as at ground floor,
2 dormer gables with stone slated aprons and cheeks, each with 2-light casement.
Interior: 4-centred arched doors, deep chamfered beams and deep reveals for
windows, Tudor arched fireplace; wide newel stair at rear of entrance hall with
solid treads and continuous newel.
