BRIDSTOW CP SO 5824 9/12 Group of five chest tombs between about 10 and 20 yards south- south-west of the south porch of the Church of St Bridget

GV II

Chest tomb for Mary Ball, died 1777. Sandstone ashlar. Deeply moulded hipped capping, corner balusters, side and end panels have quadrant corners to margins, paterae to side panels.

Chest tomb for Jane Mynd, died 1779. Sandstone ashlar. Moulded base and hipped moulded capping with advanced side panels.

Chest tomb for Richard Smith, died 1810. Sandstone ashlar. Low hipped capping, corner balusters, incised oval margins to side panels each with paterae to corners, end panels have harps with figureheads, inscription reads:

"The Harp whilst mortal of the string To please the gay and jocund Throng With Angels, now, he plays, and sings Glory to God, the King of Kings"

Chest tomb for William Smith, died 1816. Sandstone ashlar. Hipped moulded capping, corner balusters, oval margins and paterae to side panels, inscription reads:

"The sentence passed on Adam was Thou must return again unto thy native Dust Therefore lament me not, Since God who gave was pleased to take me to the silent grave"

Chest tomb for Tho Reese, died 1783. Sandstone ashlar. Deep moulded base, hipped capping, gadrooned end panels carried across as balusters with one patera to west and wreath to east, rectangular margins to side panels.
