Details
TQ 2970 NW, 2980 CITY OF WESTMINSTER STABLE YARD ROAD SW1 SW 81/122; 90/5 Clarence House 5.2.70 GV I Town mansion built on to west end of St. James's Palace. 1825-27 by Nash for the Duke of Clarence, later William IV. Enlarged 1873 and with C20 alterations. Stucco faced, slate roofs. 4 storeys and basement. Elevation to Stable Yard 9 windows wide; that to grounds and St. James's Park 7 windows wide with central canted bay. Entrance portico in Stable Yard. Recessed glazing-bar sashes in shallow architrave surrounds; 1st floor windows semicircular arched and with inset balustrades. Sill courses, dentil cornice over 2nd floor and balustraded parapet.
