survey, 1991). Late C17, enlarged and altered in C19. Main
range of coursed sandstone rubble with quoins (all
white-washed) and stone slate roof; C19 addition of coursed
rock-faced sandstone with Welsh slate roof.
PLAN: the C17 range has a 3-unit double-depth plan (an early
example at this social level), aligned approximately east-west
and facing north, with an added outshut to the rear; the C19
addition is at the east end facing east.
EXTERIOR: the C17 portion, a 2-storey 3-bay range, irregularly
fenestrated, with 4 windows at 1st floor, has a blocked
square-headed C17 doorway with chamfered surround at the
junction of the 2nd and 3rd bays; an inserted C19 doorway to
the 1st bay and an inserted window to the right of this;
coupled 12-pane sashed windows in the 2nd bay with a chamfered

3-light mullioned window in the 3rd bay; and at 1st floor a
2-light mullioned window to the left (vertically aligned with
the basement window), and coupled square 16-pane sashes in the
2nd and 3rd bays, the former with a timber sill. Attached at
the west gable is an added cart shed which is not of special
interest).
The rear, of 2 lower storeys, has recessed mullioned windows
on both floors of the 2nd and 3rd bays, those at ground floor
both of 3 lights, with hood-moulds, and those above of 3 and 4
lights; an inserted doorway to the 3rd bay; an added outshut
at the junction of the 1st and 2nd bays covering a C17
square-headed doorway with chamfered surround, and small-paned
sashed windows to the right of this. The C19 addition, of 2
higher storeys, has a symmetrical 3-window east front in
Jacobean style with a central doorway and 2-light mullioned
windows furnished with 8-pane sashes, all these openings having hood-moulds. A long single-storey outbuilding attached
at right-angles to the north side at the junction of the 2
builds is not of special interest).

with small chamfer.
