GV II

Pair of houses, forming part of terraced row; with attached verandah. c1826-30; altered. Both rendered, No.22 painted red and No.23 painted white at ground floor and pebble-dashed at 1st floor, with painted rusticated quoining to right and left respectively; slate roof with brick chimney to No.22 and panelled roughcast chimney to No.23 (both to the left and the latter coupled with that of No.24). Double-depth plan, each house single-fronted. 2 storeys, 2+2 windows. Simple verandah of 3+3 bays with slim cast-iron columns, roofs hipped to right and left respectively, that to No.22 swept and lead-clad but that to No.23 now felted. At ground floor each has a tall square-headed doorway to the right with plain overlight, and a large canted bay window, sashed without glazing bars at No.22 and 4-pane sashed at No.23; at 1st floor each has two 4-pane sashes with shouldered architraves. INTERIORS: not inspected. The pair adjoin No.21 to the right (qv) and Nos 24 and 25 to the left (qv). All the listed buildings in Marine Crescent, together with those in Adelaide Terrace, Bath Street, Beach Lawn and Marine Terrace, form a group in the Waterloo Conservation Area of Crosby.
