Includes: No.76 CORRINGHAM ROAD Hampstead Garden Suburb. Houses. 1911. Barry Parker and Raymond Unwin. Red brown brick in Flemish bond with red brick dressings. Hipped roof of tile with swept and boxed eaves. Two storeys with hipped dormers. Six-window range to Corringham Road and five-window range to Corringway. The proportions and general disposition of this and related blocks (see below) suggest the style commonly known as English Classicism; as the design continues along Corringham Road (q.v.) to Rotherwick Road, however, the blocks take on a decidedly vernacular quality. The group therefore illustrates the subtle blending of sources which marks the best work of Parker and Unwin as well as their skill in forming creating a varied streetscape from the repetition of a few compositional devices. Projecting rectangular bays used to turn oblique corner. Entrance to No.76 in bay, second-window range, bracket porch; all openings on this elevation flat arched except for round-arched cross passage in third-window range which has a plank gate of original design; axial ridge stack above. Axial stack to left of second-window range. At the corner the wall rebates forward at an oblique angle to return to Nos. 1 and 3 Corringway, a description of which elevation follows: entrances in first- and fourth-window ranges, each set under round relieving arch; to the left of the former a round window; all other openings are flat arched. Second-window range treated as a full-height polygonal bay. Axial ridge stack to party wall; external stack to return with dormer buttress. All casements of original design; doors of original design. Forms part of important Parker and Unwin design, including Nos. 78-90 (even) and 101-117 (odd) Corringham Road, which are currently listed, and Nos. 2 and 4 (with 74 Corringham Road), 5-17 (odd) and 6-18 (even) Corringway (q.v.). Also included is the single-storey brick wall and utility range linking No.76 Corringham Road with No 78.
