Sarcophagus. 1719, to Lady Sarah Cowper. Grey marble on
Portland stone stepped base sarcophagus with pedestal feet on
panelled base, coved sides with inscribed tablets, bold
cavetto and scroll moulded cornice with low pyramidal cap.
Lady Sarah Cowper, widow of William Cowper of Hertford Castle,
was mother of William, first Earl Cowper, Lord Chancellor to
George I. The tomb stands east of the east end of the church.
