and stables GV II Farmhouse and adjoining barns and stables. C16, C17 and late
C18, with C20 alterations. Coursed rubble with ashlar
dressings. Artificial stone slate roof to farmhouse, with 3
coped gable stacks. Stone slate and corrugated asbestos roofs
to other buildings.
Farmhouse, 2 storeys; 3 window range. T-plan. Central
round-arched window flanked by single 3-light casements with
painted stone lintels. Central round-headed doorway with
painted stone surround, 4-panel door and fanlight. On either
side, a C20 3-light casement with painted stone lintel.
INTERIOR has a 2-flight dogleg staircase with stick balusters.
Panelled window shutters, C18 wooden fire place on ground
floor, various C18 panelled doors.
2-storey range to left has 2 windows, that to left with
chamfered surround. Off-centre doorway with a probably C16
4-centred arch and moulded ashlar surround. To its left, a
2-light mullioned window with chamfered surround, and to its
right a small window and beyond, a plain doorway. Interior
damaged by fire.
Attached to the south, a range of barns and stables formerly
used as cowsheds. Small 2 storey right section has a square
opening and above it a continuous flight perch and 3 square
flight holes to the former pigeoncote. Below, a stable door
with wooden lintel and to right, a single window with
chamfered surround. To left, an irregular range, 2 storeys,
the central section rebuilt in blue lias limestone, and
defined by ashlar quoins. Central loft opening flanked by
small unglazed windows. Central stable door with stone lintel,
flanked on either side by small windows. Beyond, on either
side, a stable door with massive stone lintel and quoins. To
left again, a 2 window section, the left half rendered. Right
upper window has chamfered surround. Central doorway flanked
by pairs of unglazed C19 windows. To left again, a final
section, defined by ashlar quoins. Single window to right.
Below, a stable door to right with 2 breathers to its left.
INTERIOR has a queen post roof of massive oak timbers,
supported on short struts with braces. Partial first floor
supported on massive chamfered oak beams.
