1654 date, on stone tablet on chimney, appears consistent with the older
features of these houses, which although now separate, were once one.
No 51, 2 storey and attic, timber-framed and plastered, tiles, 4 flush
frame sash windows with glazing bars at 1st floor including window above
projection with fine porch at ground floor and window in gable at 2nd
floor. Modern multiple splay bay, ground floor, right. The oak door
is in original condition, divided into 10 panels by moulded battens, in
heavy moulded frame with enriched stop-chamfer. Original woodcase lock,
bolts and fittings remain. The stair is a fine example of the period
in oak with turned balusters, moulded rail, strings and newels.
No 53, entrance on south east face, 2 storey and attic with gable window,
timber framed and plastered, 3 windows, mullion transom casements, 3-2-3
light, (one blocked but showing frame). Road front, 2 windows, sash in
flush frames in gabled wing. 6-panel door, arched radial bar fanlight.
Modern bay ground floor. Good Adam type mantel. Listing NGR: TM3409189178
