20/02/76 II Pair of semi-detached houses. Early C19. Timber-framed, now
with pebble-dash rendering, hipped slate roof, central shared
stack in yellow brick. T-shaped plan of front range with
narrower rear wing with shared C19 red brick stack on W side.
2 storey. E front elevation, both houses have a single ground
and first-floor window with moulded architrave and sashes with
glazing bars, 3x4 panes. Front door of each house is set
against outer edge of facade, simple flat hood on shaped
brackets, doors have 2 full height panels with moulded
surrounds. Rear, W elevation, principal block, single ground
and first floor windows, at No.59 similar to front, at No.57
replaced by C20 top-opening casements. Rear wing, one ground
floor door and window and one first floor window to each
house. No.59 has original upper moulded window frame with
replacement C20 2-light casement. All the rest of the windows
now C20. Doorways have simple weather hoods. Doors C20, No.57
flush with upper central glazed panel, No.59 fully boarded.
Main block, N elevation (No.57) blank pebble-dashed, S
elevation, (No.59) later C19 ground-floor 3-cant bay window,
brick base, horned sashes, 1x2, 2x2, 1x2 panes. No.57 has
additional ground floor lean-to on W side not of special
interest and not a part of this listing. The pair are the
least altered of a number of similar simple early C19
timber-framed houses in the area.
