Potterdyke House GV II 2 houses, now offices. Mid C17, refronted early C18, with
early C19 additions and C19 and C20 alterations. Brick with
stucco front and hipped slate roofs with 3 side wall stacks.
Plinth, first and second floor bands, parapet. Windows are
mainly 12 pane sashes.
The symmetrical front, 2 storeys plus attics, has a central
block with 5 sashes and above, five 6 pane sashes. Pedimented
stone doorcase with beaded 6 panel door and overlight, flanked
on either side by 2 sashes. On either side, a ramped coped 2
storey wing-wall applied to the front of the older building,
each with a single sash, and below, a coped boundary wall with
a square corner pier. The longer right wall has a part glazed
panelled door in the return angle and a close boarded door to
right. To right, beyond the wing-wall, a blank window. To
left, behind the wing-wall, a 3 storey range with a single
sash and above, two 6 pane sashes. Left return has 3 segment
headed sashes on the upper floors, the outer ones blank on the
first floor, and the left one blank on the second floor.
Central 6 panel door with overlight, and segment headed sash
to right. Right return has 3 segment headed sashes, and below,
a single storey addition. To its right, 2 triple sashes and a
9 pane sash. Rear has a central 2 storey bay with a sash and
below it, a French window with fanlight, reached by a curved
double stone stair. To left, a parapeted canted bay window
with first floor band and modillion eaves, with 3 sashes on
each floor. To left again, a 2 storey range with a sash above
and 2 sashes below, all segment headed. To right, an angled
projection with a single plain sash. To right again, a double
hipped range with a central small casement flanked by sibgle
segment headed sashes, the left one larger. Above, 3 smaller
plain sashes. Below, 3 segment headed sashes. Interior has a
3-flight open well oak stair, mid C18, with ramped handrail
and stick balusters. Ground floor has oval conference room
with enriched cornice and at the inner end, a 6 panel door
flanked by single round headed niches. Butt purlin cruck
trussed roof with collars.
