GV II

6 houses ranged round right angle turn of street. C17, early C19 refenestration. Some later C19 reworking, C20 rear additions. Timber-framed and plastered, brick, peg-tiled roofs. Large L shaped plan. 2 storeys. Front elevation, to E: Nos 48 & 50 a pair, 4 window range with gable end of continuation of block at S end. C19 moulded barge-boards, central ridge stack. Ground floor, 2 doorways approached by steps, flat cornice hoods with consoles, plain jambs and frieze, doors of 4 flush bead moulded panels. 3 windows, sliding sashes, 6x4 panes. N end carriageway with early C20 door of 2 leaves, framed and boarded. First floor, 4 sliding sash window 6x3 panes. Front elevation to S: Nos 52 to 58. Timber framing on first floor, brick underbuilt on ground floor, all rendered with much C20 pargetting, 2 stacks shared between 2 house pairs, each pair consists of one broader (3 bay) and one narrower (2 bay) unit. All windows sliding sashes c1900 (when brickwork done?). Paired first and ground floor windows either 6x3 or 4x3 panes. Doors all similar, date as brickwork, boarded and battened. Rear elevation to W and N: to N, similar to frontages, red brick on ground floor, timber framing rendered above. To W, Nos 52 & 54, ground floor peg-tiled lean-to, C20 doors and windows. C20 casement window on first floor. No.56, large C20 jettied hip roofed 2-storey extension. C20 casement windows with glazing bars, similar door. No.58, C20 addition in contemporary eclectic style with tall semicircular fully glazed stair well and balcony to W with doorway below.
