House. C18 and earlier, altered in early C19. Timber-framed,
plastered with brick and flint cobble walling, peg-tiled roof.
Plan rectangular with minor rear ground floor wing and
conservatory at W end. 2 storey, cellars and attics.
Front, N elevation: red brick with some burnt headers, 3 bays,
central doorway, giant end pilasters with moulded heads cement
rendered to similar plain entablature. Stack of red brick
slightly off-centre to E, another at W end of roof ridge.
Windows slightly segment headed, rendered voussoirs, plain
reveals, frames moulded, sashes with glazing bars, 3x4 panes,
cellar arch boarded over E of doorway, to W now simple
air-bricks. Doorway approached by steps, restrained wooden
doorcase, reeded jambs, flat hood, reveals have recessed
panels, overlight and lattice glazing bars, door of 6 panels,
upper 2 glazed. Rear, S elevation: wall has obvious central
break in construction, to W timber-framed, to E lower flint
cobbling, upper brickwork, now all colourwashed. Ground floor,
to E, sliding sash segment headed window, glazing bars, 2x4
panes, trap to cellar below, to W, doorway, door has upper
glazing 2x2 panes, 2 lower panels, C19 lean-to, corrugated
asbestos roof, small stack at E side, adjacent, C19 2x2 paned
casement window. 2-light casement, second window on S side 4x3
panes. Conservatory, brick base, large casement windows,
plastic roof. First floor, single window E of centre, similar
to one below. 3 flat roofed dormer windows, simple 2-light
casements with glazing bars, outer 2x2 panes, centre 4x2
panes.
INTERIOR: central passage house with principal stack
protruding into passageway. This, together with rear building
break suggest house rebuilt with additions to an earlier
structure.
