2. (Dairy House/Cottage). Mid C19. Architects: Wyatt and Brandon. Italianate. 2 storeys, ashlar built on plinth with heavy slate roof strapped with slate over-rafters. The south front has gabled break to left. Projecting eaves with shaped rafter ends, 4 tall grooved ashlar chimneys on ridges with stop chamfered sides and coved capping. Windows have raised surrounds and blocks to cills. Gable to left has paired round-headed lights on 1st floor and 2 round-headed keyed arches on ground floor (now windows), casements. The right hand wing has 2 outer 1st floor windows and a pair of inner windows on ground floor with flanking doors, right hand blocked. Colonnade in front of 3 1/2 stone piers in line with gabled break. The east side has a gabled. break to left and is linked to a 2 storey wing by pepperpot capped square belvedere corner turret. The belvedere has round-headed windows with balustraded panels below to 1st floor and a monogrammed panel below [PMA]. The wing is a later adaption of the original dairy (for ? Countess Pembroke or Lady Herbert of Lea) cf. 2 storey angled bay to north. The original dairy was polygonal with tiled walls and central milk fountain.
