LESBURY, LESBURY VILLAGE (North side), Donkin and Aitken headstones 14 metres south of chancel of Church of St. Mary

Headstones, later C18. Sandstone. Southern stone has lobed top; carved cherubs and flower border to shaped panel with inscription to Arthur Donkin d.1779 and Grace Donkin d.1800. Good quality carving, well preserved. Northern stone has shaped top with carved urns and foliage above inscription to Sarah Aitken wife of Thomas Aitken of Alemouth (Alnmouth) d.1795.
