10/84 Parish Church of St Mary 20/11/59 II

Parish Church. 1828 - Architect T E Owen. Chancel and organ chamber added 1885. Rubble stone walls. Nave has low-pitched slate roof with crested ridge tiles. Chancel and organ chamber have tiled roofs. Nave, chancel, organ chamber on south, west tower. Small shallow transept south of tower. Tower of 3 stages, with battlements, and angle buttresses. Plain lancet windows to belfry. Moulded string course below belfry. Centre stage has a 2-light window with Y-tracery and wide splayed jambs. Pointed arched entrance doorway below this - in west wall. North and south walls of nave have 2-light windows as in tower with buttresses between. East wall of chancel has a 3-light window with Perpendicular style tracery. Low-pitched tie-beam roof, with braces and king-posts. Carved caps to chancel arch, C13 font - from Old Church, octagonal on circular pedestal, with detached shafts. All other fittings Cl9. Few early Cl9 wall monuments. RCHM Monument 1.
