- II Wrongly shown on OS map as The Roses. House. C18, extended in C19. Timber
framed, plastered, roofed with handmade red clay tiles. Originally of 3 bays
facing E with central stack, forming a lobby-entrance, of 2 storeys with attics.
2-bay extension to left, of the same height but of one storey with attics,
c.1800. Narrow parallel range along full length of rear. One-bay extension to
right, lower than remainder, of one storey with attic, with external stack at
end, early C19. Single-storey extension to left, of stock bricks with slate
roof, and rear stack, late C19. Ground floor, one C19 sash of 16 lights, bowed
shop window with C20 metal glazing replacing former shop windows, with moulded
fascia over, and 3 C20 casements. First floor, 2 C18 3-light windows each with
one wrought iron casement, and one early C19 2-light window with wrought iron
casement in hipped dormer. Attic, one C20 sash and 2 C20 casements, all in
hipped dormers. C20 6-panel door with top lights glazed, with C18 open pediment
on scrolled brackets. Above door, plaster shield with dates 1755 and 1968.
Gambrel roofs, half-hipped. Moulded eaves cornices on long main front and on
dormers. Some exposed framing inside.
