TL 31NE THUNDRIDGE BARWICK FORD (south side) 2/22 Little Barwick Farm

GV II

House. C17 incorporating earlier work, late C17 extension on W and C19 rear wing. Timber frame, plastered in main house but exposed in W extension. Steep old red tile roofs, half hipped on W extension and open porch on W end. L-shaped house facing N with unusually wide, 2-storeys and attic, central chimney plan. Former door into lobby by stack recently moved to W end. Stair behind stack. Hall on E of stack with larger fireplace and stair door. Parlour on W with unheated service room beyond. Original fireplace in chamber over the Hall (RCHM Typescript). N front has painted brick plinth, 2 windows on each floor to the main house, a small window in the place of the former front door, and one window on each floor of the black and white lower W extension. 2-light flush casement windows, renewed. Interior has moulded staircase with fat turned balusters, flat 4-centred, brick arch to 1st floor fireplace, C19 fireplace in attic. The W extension appears to have been built with re-used timbers and probably was a dairy with a bed chamber over. (RCHM Typescript).
