2.10.54 50 yards north west of No 5) GV II Former house and shop, now shop; C16, altered C18 and C20. Timber-
framed, rendered panels, to front, rear wall stone, tiled roof.
Two bays, 2 rooms deep, 2 storeys and attics. On left to street
main timber post faced up: shop front with canted ends under jetty,
half glazed door; further main post with projecting, integral
nosing, with integral bracket for jetty at top, since cut back. On
right small canted bay with flat top, further half-glazed door, and
main post, as before but bracket complete. First floor jettied,
framing exposed. Two unequal bays, same design, with central, 2
light window between studs, either side 2 diagonal timbers rise to
main posts. Central, gabled dormer with 2-light casement.
Internally, hollow-chamfered beams to ground floor, timber-framed
cross wall, between bays, blocked doorway with flat, pointed head:
similar blocked opening on first floor to No 35 (q.v.). Moulded
handrail and turned balusters to stairs on first floor landing.
Double V strut truss in gable towards No 29. Originally 1-room
deep timber-framed house, much of framing surviving, extended 1
room over full width at rear.
