Includes: Old Bracknell House OLD BRACKNELL LANE EAST. Large detached house, now offices. Early C18, altered early C19 and extended c1879 and mid C20. PLAN: rectangular plan, originally of 4 cells, now irregular with extensions to north-east and south-west. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys, attics and cellars. North-west (entrance) front C18 section: painted brickwork in header bond with first floor platband and slightly projecting central bay. Old tiled roof. 5 windows. Central early C19 semicircular Doric porch to part-glazed entrance door with stained glass side lights and elliptical spiders web pattern fanlight. Segmental arched 6/6 unhorned recessed sashes, central first floor sash tripartite with pilaster jambs and mullions. Parapet. To left, later, similar style set back extension with sash on ground floor and C20 single light window to left. 1879 projecting right hand extension: brick with mostly tile hung first floor, having fish scale patterning, and half timbered gables; all painted. Gabled old tiled roofs with bargeboards, crested ridge tiles, terracotta finials and tall enriched chimney stacks. 3 sashes to north-west front. Right hand return 2 storey, 4-light bay window, ground floor with transoms and mullions and penthouse roof, first floor fretwork apron and penthouse roof. Garden front right hand bays first floor half timbered with fretwork frieze. Round arched, margin glazed stair window. INTERIOR: retains many features including open string stair with moulded tread ends, turned balusters and large square newel with panelled insets and ball finial, chimneypieces, doors, cornices, window surrounds and shutters. First floor tripartite sash. 1879 extension has colonette doorcases to linenfold panelled doors, colonette window surrounds and matching chimneypiece with carved sunflower niche overmantle. Some stained glass to windows.
