No.34 Peter's Court
12/06/50 GV II House. Late C18, possibly of two dates, altered in mid C19. Probably partially by John Palmer.
MATERIALS: Limestone ashlar with Welsh slate roofs, not all are visible from ground.
PLAN: Complicated plan with three sections on garden front (see below) and rear wing projecting from main block towards street.
EXTERIOR: Street front has three storey wing with six/six sashes, parapet, stack on gable end. Main block has six/six sashes in sidewall and plain in mainly obscured rear elevation. South elevation in three sections, each set forward to right. First is two storeys in ashlar with hipped slate roof. Six/six sashes, parapet. Second one two storey bay of rubble stone with margin glazed sashes, two below and one above, dressed quoins, cornice, parapet, roof not visible. To right, the principal three storey semicircular bow fronted section, probably by John Palmer c1794, (compare Nos. 28 and 32). Three six/six sashes on each floor, sill band to second floor, decorated band to third floor, cornice with fluted frieze, parapet, roof not visible, large central stack with pots in line.
INTERIOR: Not inspected.
HISTORY: Part of a row of former edge-of-town villas, built to take advantage of the southward prospect over Bath, with their main elevational treatment on the south (garden) side. Listing NGR: ST7567166174
