Hatch Beauchamp War Memorial is listed at Grade II for the following principal reasons:

History
A war memorial designed by Captain William Francis Dickinson, a local architect, commemorating twelve men of Hatch Beauchamp who died whilst serving their country in the First World War, and subsequently, the fact that after the Second World War all serving local men returned home safely. Captain Dickinson designed a number of war memorials in Somerset.

A war memorial commemorating 12 men of Hatch Beauchamp who died whilst serving their country in the First World War, and subsequently the fact that after the Second World War all serving local men returned home safely. MATERIALS: sandstone DESCRIPTION: the war memorial stands on the roadside in Village Street, Hatch Beauchamp and is c3m high. It consists of a wheel cross on an octagonal shaft, set on a square plinth with a three-stepped base. The inscription reads: 'THIS CROSS IS ERECTED IN GRATEFUL REMEMBRANCE OF THOSE / MEN OF HATCH BEAUCHAMP WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES FOR KING AND / COUNTRY IN THE GREAT WAR 1914-1918 / [names of 12 men] / THEY DIED THAT WE MIGHT LIVE: THEIR NAME WILL LIVE FOR EVERMORE / ALL SAFELY HOME 1939-1945' The memorial stands with in a square-shaped gravelled enclosure with cast-iron spear-headed railings, which form part of the ensemble and are included in the listing.
