The Cambridgeshire Historic Environment Record is the definitive source of information on the historic environment in the modern county of Cambridgeshire. This resource, which is fully accessible to the public, contains over 29,000 records on archaeological sites and findspots, together with buildings and landscapes of historic significance. The CHER also maintains a digital archive of over 2000 unpublished fieldwork reports, together with local journals, publications and photographs, which can be consulted in person by prior appointment at offices in Cambourne.

Fieldwork reports and aerial photograph transcription overlays are also available digitally. The CHER is open to public consultation but only by appointment, made in advance. Information can also be supplied remotely by email and file transfer. Commercial consultations are charged a fee with full details of the charging structure available on our website. GIS HER data can also be provided on request to commercial and non-commercial users at the charges specified on the website.
