Description

The West Yorkshire Archaeology Advisory Service (WYAAS) are the curators of the Historic Environment Record (HER) for the five unitary authorities of Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees, Leeds and Wakefield, the districts that formerly made up the metropolitan county of West Yorkshire. The HER consists of a database linked to a geographical information system (GIS), recording over 15000 archaeological and historic sites and buildings in West Yorkshire, covering periods from the Palaeolithic to the Cold War. Data available through Heritage Gateway is a sub-set of the complete data in the HER and is intended for use for non-commercial purposes, for research and study purposes only. If you are using West Yorkshire HER information for commercial or planning purposes the use of material on Heritage Gateway is not acceptable; you need to consult the HER directly by submitting a data request to [email protected]. There will normally be a charge for this service. The data on the Heritage Gateway is not licenced for commercial re-use. Because the information in the HER has been compiled from a range of sources, some unchecked, WYAAS does not accept any responsibility for the accuracy of any particular piece of information. WYAAS does not accept (so far as the law permits) any liability for any loss or damage howsoever arising out of the information contained in the West Yorkshire HER records and no claim for compensation or negligence will be accepted. WYAAS strictly prohibits the information being made available from the West Yorkshire HER being used for purposes that damage, or could lead to damage to archaeological sites, historic buildings, landscapes or any aspect of the historic environment. Due acknowledgement should be made to the West Yorkshire HER where this information is used in any document or publication, whether printed or online. Users are asked to inform the HER of any new sites that their research may discover in West Yorkshire. The mention of any particular site or feature or building does not imply any right of public access. Copyright of the data content resides with the WYAAS unless otherwise stated. Information extracted by the user must be used for non-commercial research and personal interests only. The information in the West Yorkshire HER is protected by copyright law and must not be reproduced, copied, passed, sold published, demonstrated, lent or otherwise transferred in data or written form by a third party without prior written licenced consent by WYAAS, which shall not be unreasonably withheld.
