Herefordshire Historic Environment Record (HER) is the most comprehensive available dataset on Herefordshire's historic environment. The HER is based around a Geographic Information System (GIS) database and consists of paper and digitised records of all known heritage sites in Herefordshire, spanning the full range of human activity in the county; from the Palaeolithic to modern heritage. Records have been drawn from a wide variety of sources; grey literature reports of archaeological fieldwork; publications; periodicals and journals; historical maps; aerial photography; geophysical and LIDAR data; national lists; current academic work and antiquarian field notes. All these information sources are publicly accessible at the Herefordshire Archives and Record Centre (HARC) as part of the HER reference collection. Much of it is also available via the 'Historic Herefordshire Online' website, which allows access to the HER database and mapping. There is also the Historic Fieldnames and Landowners database, and a range other material relating to the heritage and archaeology of Herefordshire on the website.
